Hasina (Lipi) Ferdows from World Vision Bangladesh joined ISF researchers Dr Keren Winterford and Tamara Megaw to present at the Research for Development Impact Network Conference at La Trobe University, Melbourne on 12-13 June 2019.
The presentation contributed to the conference theme of ‘Leadership for Inclusive Development’ with a presentation about the ‘Role of social accountability in promoting women’s leadership and gender transformative change’. Ideas explored in this presentation were used in the Nobo Jatra Project Case Study, which will be published by late 2019.
As Lipi’s role as Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist in the Strengthening Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in WASH (SHOMOTA) project, she gained valuable exposure to ideas about inclusive development at the conference relevant to her work in the Water for Women project. Lipi also had the opportunity while in Melbourne to connect with colleagues at the World Vision Australia office in Burwood East.
Lipi said “I was excited to attend the conference on ‘Leadership for Inclusive Development. As a change agent I wish and strive to promote women’s leadership and gender transformative change in society for developing inclusive WASH in communities and schools”.
